Farming Status and Plans
Farming status:Full time
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
PLANS: I am looking for a location for a sustainable, horse-powered goat dairy in a community supportive to agriculture. Semi-diversified farming will include market pigs, market lambs, laying hens, herbs, and cut flowers. Agritourism is also an important element of the business plan.
PRACTICES: Draft horse-powered farm, grass-fed lamb, rotational grazing, hay production, value-added dairy products, manure-based fertilizer. Very open to organic properties and practices for all operations with the exception of dairy. Sustainable practices are priority. In 10 years I hope to create a closed loop system with all on-farm inputs.
STATUS: I am currently working as a pt manager at a goat dairy as well as an employee at a riding stables. My ft management experience includes the roles of Kid Manager and Assistant Herd Manager at goat dairies. I am ready to take the next step and manage my own small farm.
Description of marketing method:
I've changed careers to farming - my past career was high-level marketing (multi-platform) to millennial customers. The marketing for my products will include tradition at-market methods as well as significant digital and video campaigns. I will be relying on my experience and skill in this area to give me an edge.
