Farming Status and Plans

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

I am interested in entering into a partnership with a Columbia or Dutchess County farmland owner to establish a sustainable, organic heirloom fruit, vegetable and flower farm. The farm would support pastured heritage breed poultry (chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys) raised solely for egg production as well as pastured sheep and goats raised solely for milk production for the manufacture of kefir, yogurt and artisan cheese.

I have a specific interest in food production through improved farming and animal husbandry techniques resulting in superior nutrition content of all food produced. The soil will serve as the foundation for all food production on the farm and focused attention will be given to building and developing the soil to foster this endeavor.

Available funding options for the proposed Hudson Valley Farm such as crowdfunding (Barnraiser, Kickstarter, Indigogo), grants, government funding, venture capital and private investment are being actively explored.

Description of marketing method:

Farmer's markets, NYC restaurants, direct farm to fork.

Experience description:

I am a former wildlife and portrait photographer and graphic designer and am currently making the transition to the sustainable food and farming sector. I am Photoshop and Wordpress literate and excel at communicating ideas and concepts to the public.

I owned a horse farm for many years and have raised horses and animals since childhood. I lived on a cattle ranch for five years and rounded up and branded cattle, laid and mended fence and harvested hay.

My roots in the Hudson Valley, further upstate and in neighboring states go back four hundred years. My forebears were famers, horsemen and experts in animal husbandry.
