Farming Status and Plans

Farming status:

Part time

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

Part-time partnership with local farm currently.

I owned and operated my own farm to table catering business for over 7 years and developed positive relationships with many local farmers in my area.  I am partnering with one of these farmers to design, install, and maintain a perennial polyculture based system, including perennial fruit trees and shrubs, herbs, medicinal plants, as well as flowers, etc.  We integrate support species, pollinator attractants, forageable bird crops, annual crops, and other short-term yielding crops while the longer-term establishment of the system is developing.  I hold the responsibility of all operations other than the land access, which the farmer provides.

While farming practices is a complex topic, I have always practiced organic or better standards.  My farming practices integrate techniques prioritizing water storage in the landscape and efficeincy use thereof, breeding for resilient and desirable genetics, appropriate species selection, etc.  I integrate designs in perennial polycultures and holistic biological orchard management.

Description of marketing method:

Direct to consumer, restaurants, chefs. Value added products.

Thank you for taking the time to read my description here.

I am looking for land for long-term development as perennial-based, multi-storied, polyculture cropping systems. I am definitely open to working with an already-established farmer, perhaps in transition of ownership, partnership, or stewardship options.  This situation might be the ideal, actually.  Someone who is willing to share access to some established necessities to make a farm a success - infrastructure, machinery, storage areas, access established.

I am definitely interested in land options which are suited towards developing housing and perhaps operations such as a commercial kitchen.

I am not intending to be confusing in saying that I am open to all sizes of land parcels.  It is particular to the situation and variables in each case which is why I seriously would consider the range of acreage in entirety.

I am consultant for farm and landscaping projects and have helped to design and install projects in the Northeast. My farming practices integrate techniques prioritizing water storage in the landscape and efficeincy use thereof, breeding for resilient and desirable genetics, appropriate species selection, etc.  I integrate designs in perennial polycultures and holistic biological orchard management.

I also breed certain species of edible plants for desirable characteristics and serve as an Program Leader and Board Member for 2 locan non-profit environmental group, educating people on ecosystems, flora, and fauna in our local ecosystems.
