Farming Status and Plans

Farming status:

Not currently farming

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

Beginning farmer looking for land to farm! Grew up growing food in my backyard garden and continued to expand every year. I have 1-2 years of professional farm experience.

I spent 1 year with Square Roots in Brooklyn, NY turning shipping containers into farms. It was an incredible experience connecting and bringing real food to the local community.

A few months later, I traveled to Missouri and learned mushroom cultivation from one of the best commercial mushroom farmers in the industry. Hoping to take what I've learned and start a farm!

I would like to lease/buy a small portion of land to farm on. Open to many options and would love to talk. Shoot me a message and let me know your thoughts!

Description of marketing method:

Local. Creating community CSA, potentially farmstand + farm experience. As much as is possible.

Does this farmer have a business plan?

Experience & education:

Formal agricultural education, Farm owner, Farm management, Farm employee, Farm internship/apprenticeship

Experience description:

Began through gardening in family backyard for 8+ years. Sustainable practices, strawbale gardening, no till + converting surrounding areas. I was then accepted into the Square Roots program in Brooklyn, NY where we farmed vertically using shipping containers and technology. Through the program I recieved a more or less formal farm education, and managed my own farm in addition to other container farms, as well. I then went on to learn how to grow mushrooms on a large scale from one of the best commercial growers in the industry. I'd like to combine everything I've learned and incorporate it into something new and exciting. Connecting with people for me is a must, and I'd like to get the community involved and excited. Please reach out. Happy to talk.
