Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
I am looking for property in the Northern part of Dutchess County as that is where I am currently based with my family.
I currently manage a 40 acre farm with about 2 acres of vegetables and varied pasture based livestock including cattle, hogs, broiler chickens, and sheep.
Description of marketing method:
Ideally I would love to have production with value added offerings. I have experience directing educational and nonprofit organizations, so there is potential for offering classes and/or getting funding for supplying food banks or schools, in addition to sales. I also have a business plan that includes more agri tourism focus with a youpick fruit orchard and onsite farm brewery.

It really depends on the land. I have multiple enterprises in mind from grass fed beef to vegetables to you pick fruit. But viability depends on land, market, location and infrastructure.

Long term lease or sale. I will be invested in land with stewardship and infrastructure so I can’t afford to have a short term lease that might not get renewed.

I currently manage a forty acre farm. We focus on organic vegetable production and grass based livestock. We have a wide variety of livestock and vegetables that we manage organically, but are not certified. I majored in plant science at Cornell. I previously founded and directed a community development non profit with focus on urban agricultural and education; we had a total of 11 employees and around $300k annual budget. Most recently I completed the "Farm Beginnings Whole Farm Planning Course" at Hawthorne Valley Farm, a comprehensive 8 week course for creating new enterprises. These varied experiences have given me the skills to create a holistic farm business in different contexts.
